Phalaenopsis mannii x sib (dark) 3in
Phalaenopsis mannii grows epiphytically in the forested regions of the eastern Himalayas, Nepal, China, and parts of Vietnam. Variable bloomer that gets to a medium size but maintains small yellow and brown flowers that emit fragrance. Enjoys consistent moderate humidity.
This is a dark form of the species. Pictured is not the flowers from this plant but is an example of a dark form of Phal. mannii. Blooming size plant but will not arrive in bloom.
CARE INFO:
Potting mix: Coarse/fine bark with some sphagnum moss added to slow drying, mounted with moss. Repot in Spring once every other year as the bark begins to break down. Don't move up in pot size until fully root bound.
Light: Medium light. Bright North or East facing is preferred. Shield from direct light to protect the leaves from burning.
Water: Water when media is dry. Prefers wet/dry cycle similar to most Phals. Decrease in winter, this variety likes to have a rest period.
Temp: Cool-warm (45F min night, 90F max day).
Humidity: 70-85% with good air flow. Can be acclimated to 50-60% humidity.
Fertilizing: 1/4-1/2 strength urea-free fertilizer, every 3rd-4th watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Flush the pot with water once monthly to remove mineral build up. Light feeders, only feed March-October or during the active growth period.
