About LOA

Little Orchid Annie's started as a botanical art pop-up shop in Seattle back in 2018. After years of markets I had folded in other passions such as orchids, knits, pottery, and houseplants. Going into 2020 the rough plans of a brick and mortar were coming together. Then the pandemic happened and everything shut down. I watched many small business friends shut down while more sprung to life. It took another few years before I was able to open a physical store but I did it! A tiny 320 sqft space in Ballard, tucked away under a new building.

Some of the most rewarding and difficult work I have ever done was opening the shop - something I did almost entirely on my own while working a second job. Although it closed late last year, the two years I put into it were extremely valuable. Was it the perfect space? No. Was the parking situation bad? Atrocious. I did it anyway and was able to fill a space in the community I had no idea was so needed. The orchid and plant enthusiasts are a wonderful group of people that I'm so glad to have gotten to know over the years. I hope to continue to meet and keep up with you.

So what now?

The shop has changed forms many times and I believe it will continue to do so until (if ever) I decide to close it. In 2025 I set up pop-up stands in 3 lovely Seattle plant stores with local pickup availability. I'm very grateful to the plant community for being so supportive as I find new sustainable ways to fit the business into my life.

Little Orchid Annie's is a one-woman shop operating out of a small one bedroom apartment. Most of the plants I offer now have shrunken in size to accommodate a much smaller grow space but I still hunt down those wishlist requests. I long for the day when I have access to a greenhouse.

Local shops are restocked weekly and serving the greater Seattle community is my main focus. There are flasking plans in the works along with lots of fun art projects that I'm hoping to share with you all very soon.
