Paphiopedilum wardii ‘Freckles’ HCC/AOS x sib 2in
Award winning cultivar of Paph. wardii, 'Freckles' has a very eye-catching flower. Paph. wardii is from Southeast China and is not picky about temperature or humidity with ample watering. Deep nearly fully purple petals with a downward angle forms a gorgeous and unique shape. The foliage is dark and mottled which makes this species very attractive in or out of bloom. This is a great species and a solid choice for beginners.
Near blooming to Blooming size orchid. Unless stated, the orchid may not be in bloom.
PAPHIOPEDILUM CARE INFO:
Potting mix: Coarse/fine bark mix. Repot in Spring once per year.
Light: Medium light. North or East facing is preferred. South or West tolerated, ensure proper shielding to protect leaves from direct sun exposure. Place within 3 ft of a light source or window.
Water: Water frequently in hot months when media reaches dry. Do not allow to stay dry for long periods. Once or twice weekly is a good rule of thumb. Flush the pot monthly to prevent salt build up.
Temp: Cool-warm (50F min night, 95F max day).
Humidity: 40-70%, tolerant of moderate-low humidity.
Fertilizing: 1/2-1/4 strength urea-free fertilizer, weekly as new roots and leaves emerge. Decrease to monthly or less in Winter.
