Paphiopedilum venustum var alba x sib 2in
This is the alba form of Paph. venustum, an Indian species with brain-like blooms. An extremely unique and recognizable species that is an easy grower. Care is equivalent to other mottled leaf species. Grown for its beautiful foliage and colorful intricately patterned flowers.
Photo is representative of blooms you can expect to see but is not the exact bloom of this plant. This is a very near blooming size plant and will likely bloom in a year.
MOTTLED PAPHIOPEDILUM CARE INFO:
Potting mix: Coarse/fine bark mix. Repot carefully in Spring once per year to prevent acidification of bark. Be careful not to damage roots as they will often die off if broken.
Light: Bright indirect light. Place within 3 ft of a bright but indirect light source or window. North facing preferred. Shield from hot South/West afternoon sun.
Water: Water frequently in hot months when media reaches dry. Allow drying between waterings but don't let it stay dry. Flush the pot bi-monthly with clean water to prevent salt buildup.
Temp: Intermediate-warm (60F min night, 85F max day).
Humidity: 30-60%, tolerant of moderate-low humidity with adequate watering.
Fertilizing: Heavy feeder during the growing season (Spring-Fall). 1/2 strength urea-free fertilizer every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Decrease to 1/4 or 1/8 strength once monthly in Winter.
