Paphiopedilum Barbato-Purpuratum (barbatum x purpuratum) 2in
A compact mottled primary hybrid of barbatum x purpuratum. Pictured are the parents. As shown, the blooms are likely to be deep purple with a striped white dorsal sepal. One of the easiest Paphs and a great first orchid. Large blooms that will last up to 3 months. Prefers warm growing and staying on the moist side.
Photo is representative of blooms you can expect to see but is not the exact bloom of this plant. Flower color and shape may vary. This is a near blooming size plant and is likely to bloom in a year.
PAPHIOPEDILUM CARE INFO:
Potting mix: Fine bark mix. Repot carefully in Spring once every two years to prevent acidification of bark. Be careful not to damage roots.
Light: Medium light. Place within 3 ft of a bright but indirect light source or window. North facing preferred. Shield from hot South/West afternoon sun.
Water: Water frequently in hot months when media reaches dry. Allow drying between waterings but don't let it stay dry. Flush the pot monthly with clean water to prevent salt buildup.
Temp: Cool-warm (50F min night, 90F max day).
Humidity: 30-80%, tolerant of moderate-low humidity with adequate watering.
Fertilizing: Heavy feeder during the growing season (Spring-Fall). 1/2 strength urea-free fertilizer every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Decrease to 1/4 or 1/8 strength once monthly in Winter.
