Paphinia Majestic (Paphinia cristata x herrerae) 4in
Paphinia is a primary hybrid between two shaded tropical species that grow in lowland Amazon rainforests. They are particularly floriferous and will bloom several times a year. This cross is between P. cristata which has small 3-4" flowers and P. herrerae which has 7-8" flowers. The blooms will be showy and of intermediate size around 5". They grow in a pendant fashion (meaning they like to hang down). Display in a hanging pot or on a shelf is recommended.
Plant may vary from pictured. Color can range from light pinkish red to darker maroon. Unless stated, will not be in bloom.
CARE INFO:
Potting mix: Coarse/fine bark topped with moss or mounted on a cork slab with moss. Repot in Spring once per year or every other year as the bark begins to break down.
Light: Low to medium light. Bright North or East facing is preferred. Shield from direct light to protect the leaves from burning.
Water: Water frequently in hot months when media is nearly dry. Do not allow to reach and stay dry.
Temp: Intermediate-warm (50F min night, 85F max day).
Humidity: 50-80%, tolerant of low humidity if grown potted and watered adequately.
Fertilizing: 1/4-1/2 strength urea-free fertilizer, every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Flush the pot with water once monthly to remove mineral build up. Decrease to 1/4 or 1/8 strength once monthly in Winter. Light feeders, less is more.
