This species (previously known as conco-bellatulum) is a lovely plant from Yunnan/Southeast China with cream brown-freckled flowers. The ones we have in stock are a handful of nice compact cultivar crosses. It most closely resembles the shape and color of a robin's egg and is sometimes referred to as such. Attractive dark mottled leaves and tight growing habit. Higher humidity preferred for the best growth.

Care is equivalent to other mottled leaf species.

Photo is representative of blooms you can expect to see but is not the exact bloom of this plant. There is some variety in color, shape and patterning from plant to plant. This is a young blooming size plant, but unless stated it will not arrive in bud.

MOTTLED PAPHIOPEDILUM CARE INFO:

Potting mix: Coarse/fine bark mix. Repot carefully in Spring once per year to prevent acidification of bark. A sprinkle of Dolomite lime/crushed oyster shell can be applied to the top bark once a year. Be careful not to damage roots as they will often die off if broken.

Light: Medium light. Place within 3 ft of a bright but indirect light source or window. North facing preferred. Shield from hot South/West afternoon sun.

Water: Water frequently (2-3x per week) in hot months when media reaches dry. Allow drying between waterings but don't let it stay dry. Flush the pot bi-monthly with clean water to prevent salt buildup.

Temp: Intermediate-warm (60F min night, 90F max day).

Humidity: 50-80%, tolerant of moderate humidity with adequate watering.

Fertilizing: Consistent feeding during the growing season (Spring-Fall). 1/2-1/4 strength urea-free fertilizer every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Decrease to 1/8 strength once monthly or omit in Winter.
