Paph Hung Sheng Thaianum (thaianum x bellatulum) 3in
Couldn't load pickup availability
This is a primary hybrid with unusually pointed petals. The fused bowl lip and light pink center accent makes it particularly eye-catching. Both species are from the Thailand, Yunnan China region and typically grow on or near limestone. Alkaline varieties (Paphs that want slightly higher pH media) enjoy crushed limestone or dolomite lime application once per year (or whenever repotting occurs). They also prefer more aerated media and tolerate a bit more drought than Maudiae types. As you will see over and over in the descriptions on here, Paphs are easy! We consider this one a miniature Paph.
Photo is representative of blooms you can expect to see but is not the exact bloom of this plant. Young blooming size plant, but unless stated it will not arrive in bud.
BRACHYPETALUM CARE INFO:
Potting mix: Coarse/fine bark mix. Repot carefully in Spring once per year to prevent acidification of bark. A sprinkle of Dolomite lime/crushed oyster shell can be applied to the top bark once a year. Be careful not to damage roots as they will often die off if broken.
Light: Medium light. Place within 3 ft of a bright but indirect light source or window. North facing preferred. Shield from hot South/West afternoon sun. Will tolerate slightly higher light than Maudiae types.
Water: Water frequently (2x per week) in hot months when media reaches dry. Allow drying between waterings. Prefers slightly drier conditions than Maudiae types. Flush the pot with clean water occasionally to prevent salt buildup.
Temp: Intermediate-warm (60F min night, 90F max day).
Humidity: 50-80%, tolerant of moderate humidity with adequate watering.
Fertilizing: Consistent feeding during the growing season (Spring-Fall). 1/2-1/4 strength urea-free fertilizer every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Decrease to 1/8 strength once monthly or omit in Winter.
