Oncostele Eye Candy 'Pinkie'

Oncostele (previously Wilsonara) is an intergeneric cross between three genera (Cochlioda, Odontoglossum and Oncidium (Cda. x Odm. x Onc.)). Oncostele orchids are known for their quick growth habits and reliable yearly flowering. Any fragrance that comes from Oncosteles is usually a direct result of the Oncidium parent fragrance. Ons. Eye Candy 'Pinkie' has large Odotoglossum-like flowers with unique red spotting. A more compact plant than is typical. 

Plant may vary from pictured. Unless stated, this plant may not arrive in bloom. 

CARE INFO:

Potting mix: Fine bark or medium bark+perlite mix. Repot in Spring every 2 years.

Light: Bright indirect - medium light. Shielded South or West facing preferred for largest bloom display. North or East facing tolerated. Protect leaves from direct sun exposure. 

Water: Water frequently in hot months when media is dry. Do not allow to stay dry for long periods (pseudobulbs will shrivel, leaves will crisp and "accordion"). Decrease in cold months, allowing to dry fully between waterings.

Temp: Intermediate-warm (55F min night, 90F max day).

Humidity: 40-60%, tolerant of low humidity.

Fertilizing: Heavy feeding Spring-Fall. 1/4 strength urea-free fertilizer, every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Flush the pot with water once monthly to remove mineral build up. Decrease to 1/4 or 1/8 strength once monthly in Winter.
