Maxillaria tenuifolia 4in

Maxillaria tenuifolia, or the coconut-scented orchid, is a grassy semi-terrestrial orchid that should be in every orchid grower's collection. This is a blooming size plant. Extremely forgiving and easy orchid that likes lots of light and water. Vigorous grower.

MAXILLARIA CARE INFO:

Potting mix: Mounted with moss. Potted in fine bark or moss. 

Light: Shaded bright-partial direct. Not picky about light. You can blast these ones with light (especially in winter). 

Water: Water frequently in hot months as the media reaches dry. Enjoys a mild rest period of decreased watering and fertilizing in winter. 

Temp: Intermediate-warm (50F min, 90F max). 15 degree day/night time temperature difference is preferred. 

Humidity: 50-80%, but not picky. Ensure good air circulation for terrarium or greenhouse growing.

Fertilizing: 1/2 strength urea-free fertilizer, every month as new roots and leaves emerge. Run clean tap water through the growing media once monthly to prevent salt buildup. Feed consistently every other watering Spring-Fall.
