Masdevallia Golden Monarch 'Solar Place' AM/AOS 3in

A very attractive (award winning) cultivar of Masd. Golden Monarch. This is a relatively compact plant but produces a tall spike with long 5 inch yellow flowers of a triangular shape typical of many Masd. Cool-intermediate grower. Will not tolerate drying out and will start to suffer above 70F. Not the hardest Masd, but recommended for intermediate level growers. 

Plant pictured is representative of the one you will receive but is not the exact plant. Blooms pictured are from this plant. Blooming size plant but unless stated, it will not arrive in bloom or bud. These were divisions from a much larger older plant. Very nice tall leaves (appx 8-9in), potted in fine bark and perlite. 5-6 growths each, rooted. 

CARE INFO:

Potting mix: Long fiber sphagnum or fine bark mix, potted or mounted.

Light: Medium - shade. If given ample water and humidity, some dappled direct light is tolerated but it generally prefers shady conditions.

Water: Water frequently in hot months before the media fully dries. Do not allow to dry out completely. Decrease in cold months and keep an eye out for rot. Water every day or every other day if mounted. 

Temp: Cool (40F min, 70F max). Too high of temps will cause leaf drop.

Humidity: 60-80%, prefers high humidity. Ensure good air circulation. For terrarium growing, open and allow the vessel to "breathe" once a week or install a fan (for larger terrarium builds).

Fertilizing: 1/4 strength urea-free fertilizer, every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Run clean tap water through the growing media once monthly to prevent salt buildup. Consistency in feeding is key.
