Size

A Zygopetalum related genus, this species is native to Peru. Intermediate-warm grower that is usually terrestrial and puts out cute waxy pink and white blooms on a long spike. A good orchid for those that like to water. Blooms in spring/summer. Very rarely sold.

Plant may vary from pictured. Blooming size in 4in pot. These are large plants for their grown size (which is compact). Second picture is of the small division (about 1/3 size of the large one).

CARE:

Potting mix: Sandy aerated soil mix. Repot carefully in Spring every two years before fully pot bound.

Light: Bright indirect light. Not picky about window direction if placed within 3 feet. Protect leaves from direct sun exposure.

Water: Water frequently in hot months when media is near dry. Prefers not to stay dry.

Temp: Intermediate-warm (60F min night, 85F max day).

Humidity: 40-80%, tolerant of moderate humidity with adequate watering.

Fertilizing: 1/2-1/4 strength urea-free balanced fertilizer, every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Flush the pot once monthly to remove mineral build up. Decrease to once monthly or stop entirely in Winter.
