Howeara Lava Burst 'Pacific Sunrise' (compact)
Howeara are compact with small rounded red flowers. Hwra. Lava Burst 'Puanani' is a famous, award-winning orchid prized for its easy care and prolific flowers. They produce bright scarlet flowers and often put out 4 or more spikes twice a year. A great showy orchid for mounting or windowsill growing.
Plant may vary from pictured. Orchid plugs have 1-2 growth points. Plugs range from near blooming size (1-2 years from blooming) to blooming size. Grower selection.
CARE INFO:
Potting mix: Coarse/fine bark. Enjoys being mounted and will not tolerate a broken down or waterlogged mix. Repot in Spring every 2 years.
Light: Bright indirect - medium light. Shielded South or West facing preferred for largest bloom display. North or East facing tolerated. Protect leaves from direct sun exposure.
Water: Water frequently in hot months when media reaches dry. Do not allow to stay dry for long periods (bud blast, pseudobulbs shrivel, leaves crisp and "accordion"). Decrease in cold months.
Temp: Intermediate-warm (55F min night, 85F max day).
Humidity: 30-60%, tolerant of low humidity.
Fertilizing: Heavy feeding Spring-Fall. 1/4 strength urea-free fertilizer, every watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Flush the pot with water once monthly to remove mineral build up. Decrease to 1/4 or 1/8 strength every other watering or once monthly in Winter.
