Howeara orchids are a hybrid between the Oncidium, Leochilus and Rodriguezia genera. They stay compact and are great for limited space. A good candidate for mounting and humidity cabinets. This variety has bright orange in the center lending it the cultivar name 'Pacific Sunrise'.

Plant may vary from pictured. This is an orchid plug with 1-2 growth points. Plants range from near blooming size (1-2 years from blooming) to blooming size. Grower selection.

HOWEARA CARE INFO:

Potting mix: Fine bark or fine bark and long fiber sphagnum mix. Repot in Spring once root bound (1-2 years). Can be mounted on cork with sphagnum.

Light: Bright indirect light. Not picky about window direction but prefers to be within 3 ft of a window or plant light. Protect leaves from direct sun exposure to prevent bleaching.

Water: Water frequently (check the bark every few days) when media is dry. Do not allow to stay dry for long periods (pseudobulbs will shrivel, leaves will crisp and "accordion" with too little water). Water daily or every other day if mounted.

Temp: Intermediate-warm (55F min night, 90F max day).

Humidity: 50-80%, prefers medium-high humidity.

Fertilizing: Moderate feeding Spring-Summer. 1/2-1/4 strength urea-free fertilizer, every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Decrease to monthly in winter once growth begins to slow. Run room temperature clean tap water through the potting mix once monthly to prevent salt build up. Better Bloom Orchid Fertilizer recommended as a supplemental fertilizer once a month to encourage blooming.
