Gastrochilus sororius (mount)

Cute mini orchid found in Malaysia, New Guinea, China, and the rainforests of Southeast Asia. Intermediate-warm grower that produces clusters of yellow and red spotted blooms near the base of the plant. Floriferous and easy!

GASTROCHILUS CARE INFO:

Potting mix: Coarse bark mix, prefer to be mounted bare root or with a little bit of moss. Repot before media breaks down. 

Light: Medium light with ample shade. Window direction doesn't matter but direct evening light will not be tolerated. Protect leaves from direct sun exposure. 

Water: Water frequently in hot months when media has dried slightly. High humidity will help prevent the media from drying out too quickly. Water at the base of the plant to prevent crown rot.

Temp: Intermediate-warm (60F min night, 95F max day).

Humidity: 50-80%, prefers high humidity with good air circulation. 

Fertilizing: Light feeding year round. 1/4 strength urea-free fertilizer, every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Decrease in Winter to once a month. Run clean room temperature tap water through the pot once a month to prevent salt buildup.
