Dendrobium Pixie Charm 4in
Currently IN SPIKE (12/15/23)
Nobile-type Dendrobiums are a class off deciduous orchids. After a busy growing season, the leaves will begin to yellow and drop in the fall triggering a period of dormancy. Blooming happens in the spring from the leafless canes and is followed by another vigorous growth period. This hybrid is an attractive, medium sized Den that is the offspring of Den. unicum, a well-known species with bright orange blooms that look and smell like orange citrus (apricots or artificial citrus is closest). A dry winter period is required. Easy, reliable bloomer!
Blooming size. Plant may vary from the one pictured.
Potting mix: Coarse orchid bark or well-draining bark mix. Repot in Spring once root bound. Do not allow bark to become waterlogged.
Light: Bright indirect - partial direct light. Shaded South or West facing preferred. Bright North is also acceptable.
Water: Water frequently in hot months when media is dry. Stop in the cold months, watering only enough to prevent dramatic shriveling of the canes. These enjoy rapid wet/dry cycles.
Temp: Intermediate-warm (55F min night, 90F max day).
Humidity: 30-60%, tolerant of low humidity with adequate watering.
Fertilizing: 1/2 strength urea-free fertilizer, every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Decrease or stop fertilizing in winter. General rule: begin in Spring, stop in Winter.
