Dendrobium gratiosissimum 3in
This uncommon species is named the "very graceful" Dendrobium and is native to Thailand and the surrounding areas. A Nobile-type deciduous orchid that puts out orange and pink blooms from leafless canes in Spring. A dry winter period is required. Easy, reliable bloomer! These do exceptionally well indoors in the Pacific Northwest. Consistent high water and light Spring-early Fall will ensure the best growth and bloom display.
Small, blooming size. Plant pictured is a specimen example showing off the blooms and potential.
CARE INFO:
Potting mix: Coarse-fine orchid bark or well-draining bark mix. Repot in Spring once root bound. Do not allow bark to become waterlogged.
Light: Bright indirect light. Shaded South or West facing. Bright North is also acceptable.
Water: Water frequently in hot months when media is dry. Stop in the cold months, watering only enough to prevent dramatic shriveling of the canes. These enjoy rapid wet/dry cycles.
Temp: Intermediate-warm (50F min night, 90F max day).
Humidity: 30-60%, tolerant of low humidity with adequate watering.
Fertilizing: 1/4 strength urea-free fertilizer, every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Stop all fertilizing in winter. General rule: begin in Spring, stop in late Fall. Fertilize sparingly to prevent canes from becoming brittle and breaking.
