Bulbophyllum occultum 3in
Native to Madagascar, this bizarre lowland Bulbophyllum produces long rattlesnake tail flower spikes that range from brownish-red to yellow with bracts that obstruct tiny flowers. Leaves are long and skinny, emerging from narrow pseudobulbs. We love the variable textures of this species almost as much as we love the name.
Unless otherwise stated, it will not arrive in bloom or spike. Flower pictured is not of the plant you will receive. Expect some differences in shape and color.
BULBOPHYLLUM CARE INFO:
Potting mix: Mounted with moss. Potted in fine bark or moss.
Light: Shaded medium. Must be given ample water and humidity for brighter locations.
Water: Water frequently in hot months as the media reaches dry. These prefer moist conditions, do not allow them to fully dry out or stay dry for long. Enjoys a mild rest period of decreased watering and fertilizing in winter.
Temp: Intermediate-warm (60F min, 90F max).
Humidity: 60-80%, prefers medium-high humidity. Ensure good air circulation for terrarium or greenhouse growing.
Fertilizing: 1/4-1/2 strength urea-free fertilizer, every month as new roots and leaves emerge. Run clean tap water through the growing media once monthly to prevent salt buildup. Light feeders - less is more
