More Cattleya flower shape and quality than Brassavola. Brassavola orchids are known as the "ladies of the night". Their fragrance is sweet and reminiscent of lillies and vanilla but their name comes from the fact that they are only fragrant at night. A great orchid for those with lots of light and those that tend to water less rather than more. Can be grown potted but prefer to be mounted.

This is a mature blooming size orchid in a 4in pot. Photo is representative of the flower you can expect but may have variations in color and morphology.

BRASSAVOLA CARE INFO:

Potting mix: Coarse orchid bark or mounted on cork with long fiber sphagnum. Repot when pot bound in Spring.

Light: Bright indirect - partial direct light. South or West facing preferred. Give as much light as possible while keeping up with watering.

Water: Water frequently in hot months when media is fully dry, decrease in cold months. Water every day or every other day if mounted.

Temp: Warm (60F min night, 85F max day).

Humidity: 40-80%, high humidity must be accompanied by good air circulation.

Fertilizing: 1/2 strength urea-free fertilizer, every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Decrease to 1/4 strength or less in winter.
